Patient Safety affects us all
Tomorrow’s patient could be you…
Did you know that the number of deaths attributed to preventable medical error is more than one jumbo jet crash per day?
It’s true! A September 2013 study in the Journal of Patient Safety shows that approximately 210,000 to 440,000 people die each year as a result of preventable medical and surgical errors. An airplane with 400 people on board could crash every day for a year, with no survivors, and 146,000 people would die – significantly fewer than will die in hospitals this year from preventable errors. These shocking numbers make medical error the third leading cause of death in the United States.
Our mission is to eliminate these preventable errors, enhance patient safety, reduce risk, and improve quality in the operating room through the use of aviation technology and methodology.
It’s time for a revolution
We can, and MUST, do better!
With sweeping changes to the medical industry, healthcare providers will be required to provide a higher level of care to more patients with fewer resources. Industry experts have proven that implementing checklists in surgical procedures can increase patient safety and decrease preventable medical errors, but adoption of this practice has been slow, and hindered by the lack of an available technology solution. We have that solution and we understand that change is not going to happen on it’s own. Patients must learn to be advocates for their own care, and to speak up when medical errors occur. We want to help your voice be heard and be the vehicle for this change!
If you, or someone you love, has been the victim of a preventable medical error, please contact us. We are very interested in hearing your story and making you a part of this solution.
